How to Use The Chart Options

In the Real Estate Financial Planner™ we use Charts to display the data for Scenarios. Through various Charts we can explore what is happening with a specific Property or Account during a Scenario or use them to summarize an entire Scenario. This post will take you through the different viewing and limiting options for the Charts in your Planner™.

Go To The Charts Page

To view your Charts, click on Charts from the drop down menu across the top under Planner™. You can also access them by clicking the Chart icon on the Scenarios page.

You can zoom in on a section of a Chart by manually entering in the start and end months in the boxes below the Chart. For example, to zoom in on the first 100 months enter 0 into the first box and 100 in the second box and then click “Limit Months”.

To reset the view just delete the numbers from both boxes and click the “Limit Months” button again.

Or, simply click on the Chart where you’d like to start and drag the mouse to highlight the area you want to zoom in on.

You can reset the view of the Chart if you click the “Reset Zoom” button on the top right of the Chart.

To switch from using the number of months into the Scenario across the bottom of the Chart to specific dates click the “Date” button underneath.

By default the Charts are displayed in “Raw Dollars”. You can automatically adjust for inflation by clicking the “Inflation Adjusted” button.

You can view the Chart data as lines instead of the default filled in area by clicking the “All” button as shown below.

Switch to viewing the data as Inflation Adjusted by selecting “All IA”.

Click on “Months 1-12” on the left side to display the data for the first 12 months as a bar Chart with labels.

Labels are turned on by default in this view.

Turn off the labels by clicking the “No Labels” button under the Chart.

By default the data is displayed without stacking. For data from multiple sources click on “Stacking” to view the combination of the totals. For example, the balance of different Accounts can be stacked to give you the combined balance of both Accounts in each month.

The default position of the legend is “Legend Centered Bottom”.

You can move the placement by clicking on the “Legend Top Left” button.

Or remove it completely by selecting “Legend Off”.
